President and Vice-President
Jan founded Sunshine Caterers in 1979 with one truck and two employees. She is proud that Sunshine has grown into the 32-truck (and growing!) operation that it is today. Jan continues to run the business from her home office (only three miles from the Sunshine buildings), often delegating authority and trust to her employees to run a great and honest business.
Jan and Richard met while he was selling her an ONAN Generator for Sunshine; he also sold himself in the process! They have been married now for 24 years. Jan is thankful for a hard-working husband, who not only fixes minor things but major business problems too. Richard's landscaping of Sunshine Caterers, Inc., is award-winning, in Jan's eyes. He drives a route as a spare driver and has also driven to the Unemployment Office to give away free rolls and coffee. Richard has also incorporated catering breakfasts to individual factories who provide them free to their employees (Sunshine also uses Kraus Family Catering when some factories desire major breakfasts served). He helps answer a lot of questions at Sunshine to help relieve Jan of a lot of stress. He belongs to The Lions of Elkhart and to Trinity United Methodist. He believes in the Sunshine policy of contributing his best to the business and to the customers and setting a great example to the employees at Sunshine. Jan says that without his help, she wouldn't be able to be the retired CEO and enjoy being at home in her office.
When Jan and Richard are not working, they enjoy spending time with their three living children (one son died at 18), and three wonderful grandchildren: Alora, Taylor and Noah.
Human Resource Director
Sharon started with Sunshine in 1981 as a route driver. She has since been promoted to Director of Human Resources, which means she's responsible for all the insurance for the employees and deals with any problems the employees may have. Sharon plans to move to the Florida Keys when she retires.
Kitchen Manager & Purchasing Agent
Cheryl has been with Sunshine Caterers since 1982 at the age of 17. She began as a driver who never missed a day, always balanced her route and took great care of her customers. She was promoted to the Warehouse, along with filling in for the workers on vacation such as our Spare Driver, Menu Lady, Purchasing, and Payables. She has since been promoted to the Kitchen Manager and Purchasing Agent to replace our retired Dale Medford. Cheryl's main hobby is bowling.
Payables and Invoice Computer Controller
Jennifer was recently promoted promoted from Driver Trainer, Inspector, and Route Controller, to Payables and Invoice Computer Controller. She is married to Josh Padgett, the head of our Warehouse, and has 2 children: one girl, Jocelyn, and one boy, Justice. Josh began working at Sunshine in 1996, and Jennifer started in 1997.
Menu Controller
Sherri Lentine is Sunshine's new Menu Controller. She has been in business for herself and decided to work elsewhere till she found the job she liked. She worked for Personell Partners until Sunshine Caterers convinced her to stay for a permanent position that needed filled. She loves Sunshine Caterers and her less stressful job. Sunshine definitely appreciates her business knowlege and her desire to do it, and do it right! She learned how to operate our old computer system, and is looking forward to the new one when it is finalized.
