Once you've tried the rest, you'll know Sunshine is the best!
Sunshine Caterers, Inc., is a mobile industrial caterer with daily routes to over 1,000 local industrial clients. Sunshine operates from a 25,000 square foot headquarters which can house 35 trucks along with one Large Indoor Catering Truck Van. Most of the trucks are the traditional silver-sided food service vehicles, and they can make as many as 50 stops per day.
Sunshine Caterers offers a diverse menu with over 3,000 food items prepared under the supervision of their head chef. In addition to sandwiches, soups, pastries, and desserts, Sunshine makes different entrees daily and changes the menu bi-weekly. Most of the food is prepared in the afternoon or evening for the next day; therefore, the business operates 24 hours daily. Sunshine also features restaurant items from Papa Johns, China Star, Nelson's Golden Glow PortaPit Chicken, KFC Chicken, Homemade Mexican Food by Maria Garcia, Dutchmaid Doughnuts and Lucky's Doughnuts. Many of these suppliers are locally owned and operated.
Sunshine is unique in the catering business because they own, maintain, and supervise all facets of their trucks to individual drivers, most of whom are women. Each driver selects the items he or she carries on the trucks, usually ordering from 500 to 700 items daily through a computerized inventory check-in and -out system. Drivers maintain responsibility for cleaning and stocking the trucks and filling out orders. Sunshine also employs spare drivers.

Sunshine Caterers serves the northern Indiana areas of Elkhart, Goshen, Bristol, New Paris and Syracuse. Sunshine is involved in numerous community activities, including The Greater Elkhart Chamber of Commerce and the National Federation of Independent Businesses. Owner Jan Keen is a member and former board member of The Mobile Industrial Caterers Association, based in California. Keen was the first and only female of this organization. Sunshine does not believe in food carry-over, and because each driver brings back at least one of every food entree (Sunshine's computer formula is Sales Plus One), rather than throw away over 1,000 items a day, they donate all leftovers, which are picked up by a local Faith Mission.

The key to the success of Sunshine Caterers is that good food is always in demand. Having good dedicated employees that provide quality service has been the key to their growth.
